Partner Janet Bobechko will attend the CANECT Environmental Compliance and Due Diligence Training Event (CANECT 25) on Tuesday, April 29 – Thursday, May 1, 2025. Since 1992, CANECT courses have met the needs of Canada’s environmental managers, practitioners, and supervisors. Attend CANECT to keep up to date with new environmental regulations and expand your awareness and best practices.

On April 30, Janet will serve as the Course Chair for "Ontario's Excess Soils Regulation and Contaminated Sites 2025". The one-day compliance "clinic" will provide an essential update to enable consultants, governments, proponents, developers, municipalities, and environmental professionals to successfully navigate practical issues arising from Ontario’s new and evolving rules for excess soil, including O. Reg. 406/19, as well as emerging contaminants, contaminated sites, risk assessment and liability.

On May 1, Janet will Chair "Dealing with Environmental Spills". Environmental emergencies can result in a nightmare scenario for the unwary manager who must now consider risks associated with climate change in addition to dealing with more common spills, leaks and discharges that can prompt unwanted ministry investigations; fines and penalties; and damage community relations. This course will help attendees be sure of their responsibilities, teach them how to implement measures to increase resiliency and avoid liability, and encourage proactive best practices.
