Partner Sandra Astolfo will speak during the CIQS Congress 2024 on Thursday, June 20th - Saturday, June 22nd. The theme of this year's event is "Canadian Construction: Paradigm Shift or Status Quo?".

Sandra will take part in a panel titled "Construction Law Developments and Issues" on the second day of the conference. The panel of construction lawyers from British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario will discuss recent developments and issues to be aware of in the following areas, with a focus on "new" or "existing" construction law legislation in these three provinces:

• Adjudication - historical data from Ontario, motions for leave/insight into the determinations and the adjudication process and practice.
• Differences in the transition provisions in Ontario and Alberta
• Impact "new" and "existing" construction law legislation has or may have on construction liens and trust provisions
• Pay When Paid provisions - do they continue to exist?
• The interplay between construction law legislation and the Federal Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, and
• Contract Notice Provisions - fatal to a claim or no big deal?
