Partners Janet Bobechko, Krista Chaytor, Robert Eisenberg, James Kosa, Karsten Lee and Abbey Sinclair, along with Associates Dylan Dilks and Phil Wallner, will attend the ICSC+Canadian Law 2024 conference on Monday, April 8th and Tuesday, April 9th, 2024.
The event is part of a content-focused series that is meant for the professionals who own, create, design, build, lease and consult across the shopping centre industry in addition to landlords and tenants, such as lawyers, architects, consultants, marketers and more.
Monday, April 8th
Karsten Lee will serve as a panelist for "The Evolution of Shopping Centre Lands", which will discuss current redevelopment trends and the future of the shopping centre, and provide tips for how to safeguard landowners’ control over their lands at the lease stage, relocation rights, and what to do with existing leases that stand in the way of redevelopment plans.
Robert Eisenberg will serve as a moderator for "What Lies Beneath: Exploring the Mysteries of Ground Leasing", a workshop that will explore the complexities inherent in ground leasing. Experts will share their knowledge and personal experiences to help you navigate the complex legal landscape that defines this unique sector of commercial leasing.
Dylan Dilks and Phil Wallner will both take part in a roundtable discussion titled "Landlord defaults and tenant remedies – Are there any?".
Abbey Sinclair will participate in a roundtable discussion titled "What Leasing Lawyers need to know about expropriation".
Krista Chaytor will participate in a roundtable discussion titled "Limitation Issues - What Are a Lawyer's Obligations?".
Tuesday, April 9th
James Kosa will speak during "Leveraging AI Intelligently in the Business of Real Estate Law". The panel will focus on the current evolution of existing technologies, their practical applications, associated risks, and the potential liabilities and legislative issues with respect to AI.
Janet Bobechko will take part in a roundtable discussion titled "ESG (Environmental Social and Governance) issues in commercial leasing – what are the current issues and how to manage lease implications".
