Partner Jennifer Corak will speak during Intensive Skills Workshop: Will Drafting, a program that will be offered by Osgoode Professional Development in two sessions on April 10, 2025 and May 9, 2025.
Drafting a tightly worded will can help protect you from potential challenges, and is a skill that requires thoughtful consideration and practice. When a client comes into your office requesting a will, it is critical that you are prepared to competently draft based on varying, and sometimes, complex scenarios. This unique program includes sample fact scenarios, lectures and small group breakout sessions.
The first session will overview topics including common mistakes made when drafting a will, administrative clauses and preamble, an introduction to cottage trust clauses, and a plenary on second marriages and multiple wills.
The second session will entail group exercises focused on will/joint retain letter drafting and cottage trust clauses, discussion on second marriages and multiple wills, and a group debrief.
