This flagship event in the Ontario Bar Association's municipal, planning, and environmental law calendar will provide the insights, advice, and expertise you need to master these evolving legal areas. From recent developments and critical case law to key issues and practice challenges, attendees will hear from leading Ontario professionals as they share best practices and updates.
February 8
Abbey will speak during "Making Sense of Compensation Under the Expropriations Act", which will provide practical strategies for assessing the reasonableness of a statutory offer of compensation, insights on classification of damages and lessons learned from recent OLT compensation decisions.
James' session, "Municipal Procurement Projects", will provide valuable insights on freedom of information requests in the procurement environment, equity initiatives and other special requirements in conducting bids, and unique considerations of technology and construction projects, all with a special focus on technology and construction projects.
February 9
On the second day of the event, Janet will take part in "Significant Environmental Issues in Land Use Planning", where attendees will gain insight on the municipality’s role in landfill permits, and natural environmental planning, and ear from practitioners on best practices for community consultation, land use compatibility, waste management issues, and more.
Raj will serve as a speaker for "Recent Legislative and Policy Developments in Planning Law", a session that will keep attendees current on essential legislative and policy developments, from urban boundary changes to increasing density, Minister’s Zoning Orders, and more.
