WeirFoulds is pleased to announce that Partner Raj Anand has been appointed Chair of the Board of Governors of the Law Commission of Ontario (LCO), effective April 16, 2020.
Raj practises in the areas of human rights, constitutional and administrative law, labour relations, civil litigation, professional negligence and discipline. He is a former Chief Commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission and was an elected bencher of the Law Society of Ontario from 2007 to 2019. Raj has held an extensive list of professional titles throughout his career and received a wide array of awards.
The LCO is Ontario’s leading law reform agency. Its reports make recommendations: to make the legal system more relevant, accessible or effective; to simplify or clarify the law; and about using technology to improve access to justice.
Raj replaces Andrew Pinto, Chair of the Board from September 2018 to February 2020 – upon his appointment to the judiciary.
