Adam Varro is an Associate in WeirFoulds’ Commercial Litigation Group, practising in the areas of aviation, media and defamation, and asset recovery litigation.

Adam’s practice includes acting for air carriers in commercial and liability claims, defending Canadian media organizations in liability and defamation claims, and representing individuals and institutions in asset tracing and recovery matters. Adam brings a pragmatic approach to dispute resolution, tailoring litigation strategy to specific client needs to deliver excellent service.

Prior to joining WeirFoulds, Adam was a litigation associate at a full-service Toronto-based law firm, where his practice focused on automotive law, licencing and regulatory disputes. Adam has represented clients before the Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court, Licence Appeal Tribunal, and Ontario Court of Justice, and assisted clients with licencing applications under the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act and the Cannabis Licence Act.

In the broader legal community, Adam sits as a Director on the Board of the Fair Change Legal Clinic and regularly volunteers with Pro Bono Ontario’s Free Legal Advice Hotline. In addition, Adam is the Board Chair of Adam House, a refugee resettlement organization.

  • Acted for a large Canadian media organization on a complex anti-SLAPP motion involving claims of alleged injurious falsehood and conspiracy for hundreds of millions of dollars in relation to a broadcast.
  • Responded to a motion seeking to set aside an ex-parte Mareva injunction freezing financial institution accounts and cryptocurrency platform accounts, and preserving property.
  • Successfully represented a Cannabis Retail Operator before the Licence Appeal Tribunal in a licence revocation hearing in one of the first reported cases interpreting the Cannabis Licence Act, 2018.
  • Represented investor clients throughout the implementation of an urgent preservation order protecting against the dissipation of digital assets stored in cold storage wallets and cryptocurrency mining equipment.
  • Regularly consults with international counsel and clients in defending jurisdictional dispute applications and a claim for declaratory relief in the Caribbean.
  • Obtained a judgment at the Federal Court in a trademark dispute for a claim of passing off and injunctive relief on behalf of a producer and distributor of whisky-based products.
  • Represented a motor vehicle salesperson before the Licence Appeal Tribunal in a licence revocation matter involving allegations of fraud.
