Zohaib Ahmed is an Associate in the Commercial Litigation Practice Group at WeirFoulds with a diverse practice covering business litigation, shareholder remedies, professional liability, employment disputes, real estate and construction litigation, and international/cross border litigation.
Prior to joining WeirFoulds, Zohaib maintained a broad litigation practice at a Toronto-based litigation firm, where he carried and assisted with files in diverse areas of civil and commercial litigation.
Zohaib has extensive in-court and tribunal experience and has appeared at or before the Immigration and Refugee Board, the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, the Federal Court, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, and the Court of Appeal for Ontario. Zohaib enjoys taking on cases with tough and niche legal issues.
In the past, Zohaib has negotiated shareholder buyouts using a “shotgun” clause, defended human rights applications, secured settlements in wrongful dismissals, and defended against a Mareva injunction and a request for a Certificate Pending Litigation with respect to funds valued at approximately $3 million.
Zohaib earned his Juris Doctor from Western University, where he won awards for his written and oral advocacy in the Philip C. Jessup Public International Law Moot, advancing to the international rounds in Washington, D.C. Zohaib also worked as a Policy Advisor for the Government of Canada at the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.
Zohaib has a keen interest in cryptocurrency – both as an investor and an adviser. Zohaib has extensive knowledge of the legal challenges associated with digital currencies and has helped his clients recover digital assets misappropriated by fraudsters hiding in different jurisdictions.
