WeirFoulds LLP is pleased to announce that the partnership has appointed Denise Baker and Wayne Egan as Co-Managing Partners, effective July 1, 2022. Wayne has acted as the Managing Partner since he was appointed to the position in 2018.
The decision to divide the role of Managing Partner into a shared responsibility was made as a result of the Firm’s growth over the past few years – both in terms of internal headcount and client portfolio. This will better support the further development of the Firm, with Denise and Wayne working collaboratively to address key strategic matters and advancing important milestone goals.
Denise is a highly accomplished lawyer with a practice area encompassing municipal and land use planning issues, as well as litigation pertaining to those areas, and has been repeatedly recognized in both Best Lawyers in Canada and the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory. Throughout her career, Denise has established a reputation for giving her time and expertise back to the legal community, having served as the Chair of the Municipal Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association, serving as a sessional professor at the University of Waterloo where she teaches Planning Law at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and speaking at seminars hosted by the Law Society and Ontario Bar Association. This appointment to Co-Managing Partner serves as a testament to her wealth of knowledge as a legal professional, and to her personal qualities of integrity, dedication and generosity.

A member of the Firm’s Management Committee for more than 17 years, Wayne has practiced securities law at WeirFoulds for his entire 30-year career. He is highly respected by his peers and clients, and is widely recognized throughout Canada as a leading lawyer in his practice areas. During the five years that Wayne has served as Managing Partner, WeirFoulds has been named Ontario Law Firm of the Year at the Canadian Law Awards twice, first in 2020 and recently in 2022.
