WeirFoulds is pleased to announce that a number of our lawyers have been appointed to The Advocates’ Society’s Practice Groups and Standing Committee for the 2019-2020 year.
Caroline Abela, Partner, ascends to the role of Chair of the Estates Litigation Practice Group following her term as Vice-Chair in 2018-2019. In this new role, Caroline will take the lead on the activities of the Group. Caroline is experienced in complex estates and trusts litigation and commercial and corporate litigation. She represents clients ranging from large corporations and institutions to small business owners and professionals.
Philip Carpenter, Associate, ascends to the role of Secretary of the Construction Practice Group following his term as Member-at-Large in 2018-2019. Philip has extensive experience working on complex construction litigation files for all levels of the industry. He has represented contractors, subcontractors, owners, and design professionals in a variety of construction disputes.
Nadia Chiesa, Associate, joins the Commercial Litigation Practice Group as a Member-at-Large. Nadia is Co-chair of the WeirFoulds Caribbean Practice Group, and her practice focuses on multi-jurisdictional litigation involving complex corporate and commercial disputes in various jurisdictions, including the Eastern Caribbean, Central America and the US.
As members of the TAS Practice Groups, Caroline, Philip and Nadia will have the opportunity to plan and design practice-specific education and networking events.
Marie-Andrée Vermette, Partner and member of the board of directors of The Advocates’ Society, has been appointed Chair of the Standing Committee on Advocacy and Practice (SCAP) following her role as Chair of the Education Standing Committee in 2018-2019. Marie-Andrée is also currently Chair of the Commercial Litigation Practice Group at WeirFoulds, specializing in complex litigation cases for a wide range of clients.
