WeirFoulds is pleased to announce that Partner Clare Burns has been recognized by the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) as the 2025 recipient of the Award of Excellence in Trusts and Estates Law.
The OBA’s Award of Excellence in Trusts and Estates is awarded to members of the Ontario Bar Association who have demonstrated leadership in the trusts and estates bar through knowledge, experience, skill, commitment, passion and strength of character.
Over the course of a career spanning nearly 35 years, Clare has established a strong reputation as one of the leading Trusts and Estates litigators in Canada, handling complex and highly sensitive matters involving trusts, estates and capacity litigation. She has been ranked in the top band of the Chambers High Net Worth Guide in the “Private Wealth Disputes – Canada” category for seven consecutive years.
Clare has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Canada, and the Supreme Court of Canada while representing clients. She previously served as the Children’s Lawyer for the Province of Ontario from 2003 to 2008, during which time she was responsible for investigation, advocating, protecting and representing persons under the age of 18 in proceedings before the courts and tribunals of Ontario.
“We are immensely proud of Clare for achieving this prestigious recognition,” stated Wayne Egan, Co-Managing Partner at WeirFoulds. “This honour is a testament to her outstanding dedication and contributions to the legal community, as well as her profound leadership, expertise, and commitment to excellence.”
