WeirFoulds is proud to announce that the firm has been recognized for its participation in SCG Legal’s inaugural Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Advocate Certification Program. The firm has been involved in the program for the past year, and is recognized alongside SCG Legal member firms Boutin Jones, Mills & Reeve, Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría, and Rifkin Weiner Livingston.
SCG Legal is an international network of law firms that are well-regarded within their legal, business and political communities. Member firms are vetted annually based on specific criteria of excellence, including legal expertise, local market knowledge, and the quality of client services. SCG Legal was ranked by Chambers Canada Guide 2024 in Band 1 of the “Leading Law Firm Networks: Highly Regarded” category. By uniting professional skills, expertise and influence with members of this network, WeirFoulds offers companies in virtually every industry qualified guidance and representation for international and multi-jurisdictional matters.
The Advocate Certification Program requires firms to focus on at least three core competency areas, followed by the submission of a detailed report articulating the activities, personnel and outcomes associated with these competencies. These areas include hiring and recruiting; inclusion and belonging; representation in leadership; equity; and cultural awareness and DEI training. WeirFoulds worked alongside the team at SCG Legal to ensure that the firm met key DEI benchmarks pertaining to metrics such as strategy, accountability, creativity/innovation, commitment, impact and participation.
This aligns strongly with policies and initiatives that WeirFoulds has implemented over the past several years, facilitated by the firm’s EDI Committee, to create an environment that celebrates and reflects the rich diversity of our society. The firm also offers a robust suite of legal and consulting services, including workplace training, leadership education and coaching, demographic surveys and equity audits, designed to help clients achieve true equity within their workplace.
“I am incredibly proud that WeirFoulds is one of the inaugural participants in the DEI Advocate Certification Program,” said Daniel Wong, Chair of WeirFoulds’ Employment & Labour Practice Group and the firm’s EDI Committee. “These efforts are crucial in helping us build and maintain an inclusive workplace that values unique perspectives and nurtures talent from a diverse range of backgrounds.”
