WeirFoulds is a proud to once again act as a supporter and participant in the Law in Action Within Schools (LAWS) annual Summer Job Program (SJP). WeirFoulds has been an active contributor to and advocate of the program since 2008, and has hosted several students from the program who have an interest in learning more about the legal community.
The LAWS program is the result of a partnership between the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, Osgoode Hall Law School and the Toronto District School Board. The goals of the program are to use legal education as a tool to encourage students to graduate high school and access postsecondary education by providing participants with an engaging exposure to legal issues, the justice system and the legal profession. The final goal of the program to increase diversity in the legal profession is one that resonates with WeirFoulds, as the firm is an active participant in the Law Firm Diversity and Inclusion Network.
By engaging these students early, the LAWS Summer Job Program gives students a positive glimpse into the legal field, while arming them with valuable transferable skills and access to a supportive work environment that grants them access to a network of professionals that can assist and guide them in the future.
